Upgraded a Dell from squeeze to wheezy. Go to the reboot and it stops with
the error

<http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=104868#p501288> modprobe: bad
line 1: 1 tokens found, 2 needed

Google reckons it's the blacklist file. I've moved it but still get the
problem. Help.

Martin.

When you say stops, do you have a shell?

Did you check for other syntax errors in modprobe conf files?

Does the initrd also contain a blacklist?

Chris

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a while and still hope to come to a meeting soon
(I will need dual boot advice shortly
as I need to run Win7 to continue running beta tests on MMORPG's -
have to upgrade from XP).

Anyhow: I have a couple of printers that any engineers out there might
be able to fix.

There's an Epson C48 that needs some love and care on the wormscrew or
pickup roller (virtually full cartridges
and two spare - T066 black and T067 colour),

and an HP PSC2210 all-in-one that has a green print problem - again
almost full cartridges installed and
spares. Additionally with this printer is a Fuji Finepix 6900 digicam
with a spare macro lens. Without the printer
this camera is no use to me as the memory cards are proprietary and
the only means of reading them is
through card reader on the printer.

Free to collector, but a donation to Bristol Horseworld or Bristol and
Wales Cat Rescue would be nice.

Regards,
Chris

Nope. Reboot into the squeeze kernel to edit the files.

>Did you check for other syntax errors in modprobe conf files?

Nope. A bit beyond me - or at least it was stuck in a data centre. It's at home now!

>Does the initrd also contain a blacklist?

I'll check and get back to you - off out now so will be later/tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply.

Martin.

OK, I had looked for other blacklists yesterday but didn't know about initrd.

Using http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2009/07/how-to-view-modify-and-recreate-initrd-img/ I've removed the contents of the blacklist file (it still exists but is empty)

and set the link /initrd.img > /boot/initrc.mynewimage

Still get the same error.

Martin
