Generally you would only run one agent per network. We're testing your
broadband connection, not your computers. For our corporate customers
they run an agent at various strategic points in their network (remote
offices, datacentres, etc).

The data requirements are pretty minimal. Four times an hour we ping a
few hosts on the Internet and for the web browsing targets we download a
small file from the target's web site to measure site responsiveness. I
would expect total network usage to be less than 5MB per day.
One of our customers is the local government of a remote Atlantic
island. The island's entire Internet connection is via a satellite link
so we've tuned our tests to have minimal impact on the network.

That is what we charge for our corporate customers. The Ofcom BBFix
project is free for people to install at home. You receive a summary of
your network performance via our dashboard which is a much trimmed down
version of what our customers can see. Our paying customers have an
advanced view of the data collected about their networks as well as
control over which targets are monitored. For most medium sized
companies ?1000 per month is a small price to pay for insight into how
their network is performing from a user-experience point of view.
Shane.
