Have you tried VLC? It's available on Linux and Android and has always
worked fine for me when I've needed to hack some kind of LAN streaming
together.

I don't think so but you'd need to test.

Do you mean the generation of streams from video, or the (predominant)
reverse, for which I too usually use VLC?
Just checking before I start reseaching VideoLan.

Eh?
No spat, just Adobe have stopped producing it for Android. You can download
the last released version from
<http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html>
and sideload it. Note: it probably has security vulnerabilities.

Both - it will stream an input capture stream over IP via various
methods.

At that Adobe site, it says:-
Below is a list of device and OS combinations that are certified for
running Adobe Flash Player. Installing Flash Player on an uncertified
device may result in unexpected behavior and can potentially destabilize
your device.
Please note: Flash Player will not be certified for any device OS beyond
Android 4.0.x.
Of course, neither Nexus4 nor Nexus7 are included, being launched above 4.1
and currently on 4.4.2
I refered to "illegal" because the only option via Google Play Store is an
app called ---Adobe--Flash--Player-- which appears to "sideload" an old
one, after paying UKP4.50 !
I think the BBC have been asked inumerable times why they stick with
Adobe....
I could always get an older 10" tablet for the kitchen, I suppose, but
would much rather do my own streaming.

Bleh. Standard arse-covering.
It's an apk. If you don't like a side-effect, uninstall it. And, given it's
not being patched, only use it with a limited selection of trusted things.
I've installed it on my i9100 running CM 10.1.3 and it hasn't broken it.
It's only used by Firefox and (reportedly) Dolphin browsers, which suits me
fine, as that way I probably won't inadvertently expose my phone to malicious
Flash exploits.

I can't find that at all; got a direct link?

I thought iPlayer was using HTML5 these days? At least, the official app
works on my N7 running 4.2.2 without any archived Adobe Flash apk installed.
