Hum...... Did I mis-word this original message (e.g. too much
or confusing or something), or otherwise put-off the many many
knowledgeable people here somehow?
Or is this just the wrong place to ask? Maybe I'm asking
a sufficiently over-specialized question? =).

I have a Thinkpad T60 with the same chipset and no reference to HP!
It seems to be supported OK with my Fedora 19 32bit.

I have it in itsty bitsy pieces ATM though as my WiFi has packed up and
the ethernet socket is very intermittent (see other post)!

FYI other post has copies of pci usb and module outputs before I broke
it down if that is any help.

Now in little pieces! Not taken the display bezel off yet to see the
aerials. I have two of them a main and aux that go round the display
(which I have never dismantled).

Anyone know why is there an AUX connection?

Both wires seem to be short circuit! Surely that's not right or is it!?

Gives the adapter 2 antennae in slightly different positions, idea
being to counteract trouble with 'dead spots' etc.

> Both wires seem to be short circuit! Surely that's not right or is it!?
The outer 'ground' contact on both may well be connected -- these are
likely both connected with that 'metal tape' to the screens' ground
inside the top of the monitor.

However, the 'inner' contact of the antenna cable (which is almost
certainly a small co-ax) probably isn't shorted to ground...

Though I could envision some radio-antennae that look like a low
resistance at low frequency (e.g. DC from multimeter), but are
a different behaviour at the actual transmission frequency.

p.s. be careful of those tiny coax connectors -- can be fragile!

Hope that helps,

The PCI id you've given isn't listed by the kernel driver include. You might want to raise a bug / propose a patch upstream if fixing this and recompiling the kernel module works for you. You can clone the Intel git tree for this.

Would also be interesting to see complete kernel log.
