I presume your camera has a firewire port? You'll need a corresponding
firewire port on the computer and dvgrab will work with it.

Hi

You'll need a firewire port adding to your PC if you don't already have
one. Pop into Maplin or your local computer shop to buy one.

You're not the only one to have done that, as it's listed in their FAQ.

Yes, but Ch5 place adverts in their programmes to pay for the hosting
and bandwidth (so it doesn't matter if it's up for longer), whilst the
BBC have to pay for it from TV licence fees.

Sony did digital8 cameras with firewire and usb (the usb may have just been
for the record to memory stick option, which was a bit silly, I seem to
remember getting a few seconds on a 128mb card)

The digital8 was backwards compatible with the high8, my mum only recently
got the digital8 tapes for hers.

You might be able to get one of these cheap from eBay these days.

Else you use a video capture unit to take the video off?
My mum has been recording the video from her tapes to the HDD recorder and
then taking the files from that. Maplins used to sell video capture
devices.
