I've been using Amazon S3 for a few years. Soon exceeded the Free Quota
then it started costing about a pound a month, my card provider then
charged me a further pound to convert sterling to dollars. I backup just
documents, mail and a few config directories.
Last year Amazon sent me a survey to complete and for filling it in they
gave me a $25 voucher against S3 costs so I've not paid anything since
then. They sent me another survey a few weeks ago and another $25
voucher against S3 costs. Wonder if I'll get another survey next year?
I use the s3cmd scripts from http://s3tools.org/s3cmd and encrypt my
files before s3cmd sees them so I suppose I'm double encrypting.
I test retrieval now and again and that works fine. Never tested it for
bulk retrieval, probably never will as I have backups squirrelled away
at home and work. S3 is only there if my home and workplace burns down
at the same time, which is unlikely as they're 140 miles apart!

I use Google Drive for personal stuff. I get billed a couple pounds I
hardly notice.
but this is good to know, I like the Amazon platform.
