Ugh, a mix of top and bottom posting. Kinda difficult to follow!
I do a lot of music albeit not on Linux. I was interested to see Bitwig
released but disappointed that it's a Ableton clone. The most promising
DAW on Linux in a traditional sense is probably Rosegarden - previously
(still?) developed by some guys at Bath University. I'm unsure of the
state of this though.
Whilst I've not yet found it practical to move music composition to Linux,
everything else (3D modelling, video rendering and editing) *is* all done
under Linux.
I'd be interested in any discussions and success stories - as music has
been the only thing for years preventing me from totally ditching Windows.
No, OSX is not the answer either.
