About half-a-dozen amateur radio groups.
Plus a few others, because I'm a practising artist (painter).

Hi
I am wondering if any of you personally would be kindly willing to donate
USB sticks to our LUG's event, or have contact with a organisation, who
would be willing to donate USB sticks. The USB's will have Ubuntu 16.04
put on them, and possibly one more other distro as well. Ideally it
would be good to have at least 60 USB's, and I am wondering if that goal
can be achieved as soon as possible, and in less than three weeks, without
us having to use own bought USB's instead, or even DVD R's.
Thank You in advanced for any USB stick donations.
Please help market the event in general by letting people know when it will
be on, and spreading the Facebook event page as well which you can get onto
from http://facebook.com/LPDBristolUK Please if you would like to help out
on the day, and I don't know that already, please email me as soon as
possible. I also have PDF flyers I can send for own printing and
distributing.
Best Regards
Sebastian
P.S
With the past 2014 event we had some kind USB Stick donations, and
hopefully that will happen this time as well!

Hello
Any USB's (or DVD R's if not instead) we are giving to be giving away at
the event, will be Ubuntu 16.04. Not Mint, not Ubuntu 16.10 (soon to be
released non LTS release), and not Mageia etc. Basically by mistake I put
the wrong thing earlier!
Ubuntu 16.04 should be a good version of a Linux distro to demonstrate at
the event, and give away to the target audiance for the event, because of
it's general popularity, but importantly it's also the latest long term
support release, that particular version.
Personally on actual computers, for various reasons, for now, I would
prefer to use another distribution Mageia, and with GNOME 3 GNOME Shell as
the interface. However I am quite impressed with the mobile vesrsion of
Ubuntu, Ubuntu Touch. Also a Ubuntu mobile device with Ubuntu Touch
basically gives a preview as to what Desktop Ubuntu is going to, probably
be like as well, in the next two to three years or so, because of Unity 8,
and etc.
Best Regards
Sebastian

I know it's not what you asked for, but I have 70-80 CD-Rs gathering
dust in the corner of my workshop. A bit small for a modern release but
if you can use them, then I am willing to contribute...

Hello
I'm new in Bristol (I've just got a job down here, originally a
Wolverhamptoner) but as of 17th of this month I'll be living at The Eye
which is a stone's throw from where you meet.
See you at the next neet (how will I recognise you? will you all be wearing
Tux T-Shirts?)
