Hi
I found out last night, that the Mageia stand has been rejected for FODEM
2017. Other project stands willl have been rejected as well who had been
there previously etc. Apparantly they had lke double the amount of stand
requests fom the prevous year, which makes sense since it's one of the
biggest events in Europe of that type.
No Mageia stand will probably change my intended Brussels trip next year in
early February by quite a bit, in general probably. I am still intending
on going regadless and I would like to fly from Bristol Airport, with
someone or more from our LUG this time. It seem's that the Chackra Guy
(yes he has a real name as well), would be able to fly out with me on the
Thurday, ,but not back. Someone new from Octobers event who turned up at
the last LUG meeting, it seems is interested in gong to Brussels for FODEM
as well, plus possibly one more guy it seems. I intend to stay untill the
Monday evening, so the day after the event, and would then like to go back
with someone or more ideally as well. At FOSDEM we can do our own thing
really, but would be great to meet up wth at least one other person on the
Monday as well again, and on Satuday and Sunday evenngs possibly even,
depending on what's going on. Could stay in the same hotel even.
Why go a bit earlier on a Thursday? Since someitmes things happen on a
Thursday that may be interesed in, but more so because I am not keen on
having to get there check ino a hotel, and then out to the beer event or
whatever sraight away. Plus if gong to the beer event it's good to be
there early as in about 5 or 6pm, because later on it really does get raher
packed, and crowded outside as well. Also it's nice having some additonal
time when going to another far enough place I find. I done FOSDEM since
2012, first time I went on the Thursday was in 2014, since I could, and
went to meet one of the Mageia contributers from San Diego, who hadn't mett
before, since then it just made more sense for me to go on Thursday instead
of Friday for a few reasons.
In 2008 going by the LUG mailing list archeive a group of people from this
LUG went to FOSDEM it seems, well would be great having a bit of a group
going in February from the LUG.
Best Regards
Sebastian
