Hello peter,

I wonder if your TV card is confusing the scanner driver, I noticed it is
detected first , maybe try again with the TV card unplugged , if that works
then look at ways to get the scanner software to choose better.

Cheers
Amias

Complete!

So I assumed all was OK!?

With scanner plugged in and switched on iscan s/w (and Xsane) does not
start the scanner.
Iscan reports:

"Could not send command to scanner. Check scanner's status"

Even tried running as root but no luck.

Checked (again) that its there:

[root@localhost ~]# sane-find-scanner

# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure
that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

Nova-DT]) at libusb:003:002

# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be
supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

# Not checking for parallel port scanners.

# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
[root@localhost ~]#

BUT this does not work:
[root@localhost ~]# scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
[root@localhost ~]#

I assume this driver does work because its for my specific scanner, so I
must be doing something wrong!

Any ideas as to what module I should see loaded for this scanner as on my
other fc23 that works, there is no epkowa listed?

Its just a rear pain having to use the old fc23 the does not shutdown
correctly to scan a photo!

Or just blacklist the TV card drivers whilst getting SANE setup, then try
re-enabling them after having done so.
