G'day!
Just catching up with my post-holiday E-Mail. Apologies if you've
already solved the problem.
What does 'gv --help' tell you? Have the options changed? On my version
(3.7.4) the options optionally(!) take a second '-'. Perhaps the second
'-' isn't optional in later versions?
Try 'gv --orientation=seascape --scale=0.5 filename.ps'
'gv' is 'Ghostview' and is probably the only decent Postscript viewer on
Linux. It's been around for a long time! It's a front-end for
Ghostscript which can also output a Postscript file to the screen but
doesn't have any fancy GUI. In order to change orientation and scale
you'd have to issue Postscript commands directly to Ghostscript.
You can also use ImageMagick to display and maniplate Postscript files.
'display -resize 50% -rotate -90 filename.ps' should give you the same
result as your gv command.
Hope this helps!
Shane.

Hi
xv might be an option for this.
Some of the file opening options are listed here
