I have an Asus Eee PC - a 10 inch netbook, which has gone pretty much
everywhere with me for maybe three or four years and been wonderfully
reliable. On Wednesday this week, the battery decided to stop charging.
It powered off unexpectedly in the middle of a meeting, and since then the
battery refuses to charge. I can run it on the battery, and it drains as
usual; I can run it plugged in to the power and it operates perfectly well,
but it does not increase the battery charge level and the battery indicator
says it is 0 minutes until it is recharged - which is a lie.
I have taken the battery out and re-fitted it. No change.
When plugged in and on standby, the battery does not change. Last night I
left it switched off and plugged in overnight, and the battery indicator
increased from 13% to 14%. Not sure how significant that is.
When I try to search online, all I find is articles about fixing battery
problems on Windows machines.
This does not seem to be a normal battery problem: I expect charge and
performance to decline over time, I don't expect it to suddenly stop
recharging. I can just buy a new battery, but if anyone has any bright
ideas about what might have happened, how I might prevent it happening
again, or what might fix it, I would be glad to hear them.
Many thanks!
Paul.

What's the netbook's model number?
