Hello Any LUGer

Re: repair GNOME Commander for MIME html opening

I am a newby needing help. My CowLUG in Cowichan Valley BC Canada
is off line as is our listserver so I have to try to contact
individual LUGs.

I have gnome-commander 1.2.8.17 on my Linux Mint 17.2 and all was well
until I noticed that I lost the Open (file) feature for *.html and
other related files. I may be referring to MIME type (html).

My guess is that I may have clicked on something by accident without
my noticing what it was that lost me this handy function.

I have failed in my search for any documents or other messages that
may offer a way for me to regain the Open *.html files.

I think that I could remove gcmd and re-install it to get all the Open
options working as they should. A small problem though is that I have
a number of gcmd bookmarks that I fear may get lost in the re-install.

Also I may try to upgrade my gcmd to a later version. Will that install
over top of my existing gcmd fix the Open problem without losing any of
my bookmarks?

Are there any gcmd documents I can download to learn more about the
workings of gcmd any version? Does anyone have a fix for me?

Still on the learning curve ...

Not sure if this will give you exactly what you need, but you might
try 'man xdg-settings' in the terminal.
